Swamp Fox Customs

We picked this little gem up last month from a fellow member of the Jockey Journal.  It's a 1981 Yamaha 650 Special II.  Well, it used to be.  When we got our hands on it the swing arm had already been stretched four inches.  This lowered the bike about two inches. Once we got it home we decided to see what it would look like with a slight face lift.  First on the list was the gas tank.  We snatched off the stock tank and set an Aerimachi in it's place.  Then we set a late model sportster seat on it.  Things are looking up.

The next change was to Rake the steering head.  It's about 32* stock and we were shooting for about 35-37*.  We came out at 37*.  The ride height was dropped about another two inches.  The ride height with rider is close to our hard tail Shovelhead project.  Pretty sweet for a swing arm frame.

While were were cutting, we got rid of the stock tank mounts.  Next step is to actually mount the tank and seat.
