This is how she looked when we
bought her off EBay.
The truck is a '92 Dodge D-350 with a 5.9 liter 12 valve Cummins Six cylinder
Diesel. We just changed over to Lucas Delphi injectors and replaced the
16cm / H1C Turbo with a Piers Diesel Research HX-40. The exhaust is 4"
pipe over the axle and out the right side. We have added Auto-Meter
Pro-Comp gauges in a custom 4-gauge pod. An Allison transmission and
auxiliary transmission are in the works as well as an exhaust brake.
We just installed the HX-40 and 4"
exhaust. The areas of concern were the clearance to the firewall and
making the bend to fit between the frame and the block / transmission cooler
lines. Also, as shipped, it is 3"-4" too tall. If you click on the
thumbnail you will be taken to a MUCH larger picture that lets you see the areas
that were cut and welded to make it fit. Now that we have the injectors
and HX-40 installed it really needs that transmission upgrade.
This is our four gauge
pod. The picture was taken before final paint and installation of split
loom. The construction is very simple. We just made up a cardboard
form and used fiberglass matt and poly-resin to form the basic shell. The
face is 3/16" Luan plywood with a walnut stain. It is mounted using
L-brackets inserted through slots cut in the side and then epoxied in place.
This is our air box. It
butts up against the back of the headlight valance. Together with the
K&N air filter it dropped our EGT's and really let's the Turbo Whined
up. Like our gauge pod, it is made of fiberglass over a cardboard
form. |
